Haven't posted a new blog in a long time, obviously, but I've logged on twice in the past month... so I may very well have quit and just not realized it. Never see my IRL friends online anymore, and I got pretty damn bored once we stopped playing together, so ... meh.

Busy Weekend

Genmo and Etcetera were great, and really helped me knock out tons of stuff.

We did my RDM AF "Pimp" Hat, the Warlock's Chapeau, first. We had to go to Feiyin and kill Miser Murphy, then go to Garlaige and pop a Doll NM behind the first banishing gate. We wiped the first fight because I was lolmeleerdm and didn't heal Genmo enough. It was really spamming the AoEs at the end. A helpful 74BST from the LS came out to help, because I wanted to be SURE we didn't lose again. Won the 2nd time, no problem.

I had already gotten a Garlaige Coffer Key, so while we were there we hit up the switches to get my coffer. It was deep behind gate two, but it was up and we were out of there in no time. Warlock's Tights, check.

Next, we headed to Castle Oztroja for my Warlock's Tabard (body). Since the only crest Waif needed for Limit Break 3 was the Yagudo Crest, I brought him along and parked him behind the locked door. The coffer was already up. Today was going great. :)

We got a key in under an hour; I actually dinged 60 while there, the Yagudo were giving like 10 exp apiece. I ran in, popped the Coffer, and then turned around to go get the password for the trapdoor. Etcetera decided to just try to brute force the gate, so I waited. started spamming the three password system, and she broke in after about 10 minutes. It was great.

Ran everyone down, Etcetera started teleing, and I clicked the ??? and got the crest, and we teleported out.

I dropped Waif in town, and we headed to Eldieme to get my Old Gauntlets. We got the key pretty quickly, but none of the coffers were up. While Etcetera and I scanned the basement, Genmo headed out to Beaucedine Glacier. There is a separate section of Eldieme that cannot be accessed from Batallia Downs, but (somewhat) luckily, the Coffer was up.

Also in that section of Eldieme is the fight I needed for my BST AF pants (Lv60 Beast Trousers). So, Etcetera and I headed out there. I had already activated and done the pre-fight stuff, so I was able to pop the coffer and the NMs back to back. Got my Old Gauntlets and my Beast Trousers, no problem.

We grouped up with Deleon, then knocked out all 3 ENMs (Guarding Earring for Mea, and the ENFEEBLING EARRING!!!!! for Dem), and then did Escort. I got ~1200 and ~1300 on my scrolls, it was great.

I woke up before work today, and a party was shouting for Dark Spark (the fight that transforms the Old Gauntlets into AF). I joined up as Shampoo and Waif, now 60RDM and 60PLD with buffer (thanks to escort ^^), and we beat it no problem.

I forgot to screenshot ANY of that crap, I was so excited. :( But it was a VERY productive weekend, and I look forward to trudging my way to 75RDM 75PLD.

Hopefully we can get together on DRG or our side-static (GenmoNIN, EtceteraWHM, DandruffshampooBRD, WaifWAR, and... I dunno what we'll do since Deleon is 67RNG now - dinged right before I left for work :D). I love RDM, did it to 70 on Worldofwarcraft (shut up, I thought it would be funny -_-), but I really wanted BST or DRG to be my first 75.

Limit Break, NIN

Did the three crests with Waif (Etcetera helped me open the magical forcefield in Davoi, and Genmo provided lots of navigational help).

Since our static has kind of fallen apart at the moment (Genmo taking a break, my changing work schedule sucking, so on), I've taken to levelling Waif's NIN.

My eventual plan is for Waif to be 75PLD 75WAR 75NIN and just have him be my tank character. Since WAR is technically staticed (I did do a party with Deleon and got ahead of Genmo and Etc >_> whoops), and PLD is staticed with my BST on Shampoo ~ I went ahead and got NIN levelled from 27 to -

I dinged 40NIN last night. I am borrowing three big ticket pieces from Genmo : Fuma Kyahan, Horomusha Kote, and Jujitsu Gi. I finally used the scroll I got from Under Observation, and have been relearning my Ni-Ichi-Ni cycle.

Tonight, taking a break from exping to farm up my Ni elemental scrolls. Since the main reason I wanted 40 NIN was for Mammets (CoP mission), I need the main weapon for that fight.

The next Limit Break I'll have to do is one I need for both Shampoo and Waif, so that'll be fun. My friend wants to do the PLD AF storyline, so right now I only have PLD AF boots. Heh. But I got my BST Gloves the other night (thanks Genmo, Etcetera). So I'm 3/5 on BST AF. Need my pants and jack coat now.

Four months

In the four months since my last post, I've gone from 57DRG to 60DRG, then levelled another job all the way to 56 (BST and BRD), and Waif went from ALMOST having an advanced job, to being 57WAR 56PLD.

Wow. Not a bad run at all.

Also, both Waif and Shampoo have a Scorpion Harness and Peacock Charms (though Waif is exclusively Parade Gorget (+1 Refresh while HP > 85%) while on PLD).

Shampoo is set to get Lv70, and Waif is set to get Lv60. The next Limit Break is a joke, though (seals in the three beastman strongholds), and the one after that even moreso (trade 3 Kindred Seals). So... yeah. :) Can't wait to see where I am four months from NOW.

Quick update: 60DRG 56BRD 56BST, and Waif is 57WAR 56PLD 32NIN.

Activated Teleport-Vahzl quest for Shampoo (thought I did for Waif too).Went to Fei'yin and farmed a key for both of them, then it turns out Waif didn't have the quest. :\ Got a Light Opal instead. I went back to Sandy, got Shampoo's scroll and used it on his WHM, and activated the quest with Waif.

I decided to not go back for Waif's scroll just yet; if I level Shampoo's RDM, I'll go grab it while I get my AF there. If not... the scroll's only 100k, and farming a key is annoying. >_<

I'm about 3000 tnl to 57BST (Scorpion Harness time :D), but 4000 tnl to 57PLD.

I keep getting camped over in Garlaige Citadel, but it is the best camp for this level (bombs exp is very nice, and the bats are DC and the beetles low-T so they are all easy charm fodder). When I ding, I might try my hand at the Knight Crawlers again (they drop the Nest Coffer Key I need for BST, and Waif needs a Nest Coffer for WAR AND PLD). They were VT last time I tried to fight them, and the Rumblers (my only nearby pets) are low DC and bad pets for a VT fight. It was taking me about 4 Rumblers to take down a single Knight.

They announced an update wherein BST wouldn't lose 30% exp by having a charmed pet, so I am VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY looking forward to exping with that.

BCNM, DRG

Got on after work last night, and Etcetera and I went to do Deleon's two orbs (BCNM40). Deleon and I were going to duo Royal Jellies at first, but Etcetera agreed to come, so we did the Big One - Under Observation.

[ Under Observation can drop the Peacock Charm, Lv33 Necklace that gives +10 Accuracy. It's awesome. ]

We didn't get any good drops at all. It was one of those runs where you make more money dumping your drops to an NPC than at the AH. :( At least Deleon does Alchemy and he can craft the Mercury and Hecteyes.

Afterwards, Genmo came home, and we decide to go quadro in Crawlers' Nest. We go down the Simurgh side, and all the way at the bottom are Knight Crawlers (crawlers) and Crawler Hunters (scorpions). It was awesome. They were VT and giving 100-180 exp a kill, we were getting chain 5 when the mobs didn't run out.

When Water Elementals popped, we retreated to the Rumble Crawlers. These crawlers were decent challenge, giving like 30-40 exp a pop, but better than nothing. Once the elementals left, we resumed Knight Crawlers. I was half asleep for the last hour or so of our party, but we were all so close to 57 I couldn't stop. :)

Ding 57. Grats Deleon. He doesn't have his Scorpion Harness yet, so I loaned him mine until I got close to levelling.

I equipped my Scorpion Harness. We got about another 1000 exp, but then I was about to pass out, so we quit.

^_^ I'm so excited. One more level and I can wear the DRG AF Body, and in two more levels, the AF Helm - which enhances our healing breath. Right now, our wyverns will cast Cures on us at 33% hp. With the AF Helm, they'll heal us at 50% HP. WAY better. :D

Edit: Got Waif to 29 MNK last night, in Korroloka Tunnel. So... freaking... close... to Lv30. I can't wait to unlock PLD, then level it up to about 30-ish.

DRG, THF, WHM, and Friend

DRG55 (yay Jaridah Peti), THF37 (trioed with LS friends, one of whom is Deleon), and got WHM40 just today (Electrum Gear = +65 MP, and HASTE!).

Spent most of this weekend PLing my friend's character Waif. Got 21WAR (Beetle Gear, Spike Necklace), and 23MNK. Helping a new in-game friend by duoing MNK+RDM, and gonna get him Rank 3 tomorrow after class. Hopefully get Waif and friend Rank 4 this week, and Rank 5 over the weekend.

[edit] I'm going to resume keeping track of mobs / camps and stuff. It'd be kind of silly of me to be doing all this productive duoing / soloing and not share the information I've figured out. :\

50DRG, 31THF, and Artifact

I've gotten really bad about posting. Lots of work, and what free time I do have, I prefer to spend playing rather than posting.

Got 50DRG earlier this week. Did 47-49 in West Altepa (48-49 was a stretch, because the beetles were mostly DC, with some EM). They both got Penta Thrust, but because we ran out of EMs, I couldn't get the final skill up (being at 149 Polearm for an hour sucked bad); we were doing Penta > Double (Transfixion-Light) > Penta (Compression-Dark). We then went to Crawler's Nest and went downstairs to Beetles. We got 50, and then after getting buffer, we went to get AF pants.

We're going to Quicksand Caves to do Beetles there tonight. Genmo went to do AF boots, and the beetles were all checking T-VT. Yay.

This morning, I got up before work early and soloed in Korroloka for an hour and got my final 3k exp to ding Lv31.

Alchemy, Woodworking

Got 80.3 Alchemy this morning before work. Last night go my mule's Woodworking to 25; I think I'm gonna give up Iron Arrows (too expensive, having to make my own arrowheads) and switch to making the Bookstool or Bookrest or whatever it is that caps at Lv31 Woodworking.

I'm done on Bloody Bolt Heads for Alchemy, and I can now move on to the next recipe.

My goal is 90 Alchemy and 40 Woodworking by the end of the week.

Alchemy and Leatherworking

Got 70.4 Alchemy last night. Up to around 30k Guild Points.

I got to 8 Leatherworking and got Advanced Leatherwork Support in order to skill up on Brilliant Snow (since Venom Pots got too expensive and I had a bunch anyway). I made about 15 stacks of Snow (they are fireworks that make it snow); that's almost 1500 fireworks. I dumped them all to NPC for 17 gil a pop, making like 23,000 gil back.

I got to level 9 or 10 leather because, when a recipe calls for two crafts, if you're under cap on the sub, you can get skills. On many synths I got 0.1 Alchemy and 0.1 Leather at the same time. It was cool.

Almost halfway to my Cadaceus. I can't wait.

LS DRG friend is 40 DRG, so we're gonna hang on for a few nights and let him catch up, then try a DRG quadro.

Alchemy and Woodworking

Got Alchemy 65 on Dandruffshampoo, and been working on Dandruffmule's woodworking (so she can HQ status bolts for me to bag up and sell on my Jeuno mule).

Got her to 23 Woodworking.

Alchemy and THF

Got 16THF, and went to Carpenter's Landing as THF/BST until my Dedication wore. Got about 2000 into my level, but I can wear Bone now.

Yesterday and today both had relatively cheap Guild Point items. Spent about 70k for 9600 Guild Points, but made 30k back on my Mokuto+1s selling, and made about 10k just NPCing the NQs. Today I made Poison Kukris, but was 1 level under the HQ Tier and even managed to break one. :( I'll probably break even on the Kukris, so all in all only spent about 4 gil / Guild Point.

A conversion I'm very pleased with.

Didn't skill up Alchemy any, but that's ok. I'll get that done this weekend.

Alchemy and BST

Got 26BST/13NIN last night in Korroloka Tunnel. Started out charming and Familiar-ing a T Jelly and wiping out EM-T Combats and Seeker Bats (Seekers ranged from EP-T, though, so it was a little more sporadic).

I decided to go ahead and take Alchemy to 100, so I turned in my Hi-Potion for the test and got to 61 on Glass Fiber.

I've geared up my THF and I'm hoping to hit at least 16 this weekend so I can wear my Bone set.

We did Under Observation #22, and got Utsusemi: Ni and a Peacock Charm. Genmo sold the charm for 4,000,000 gil, and so I broke 1,000,000 gil again. I bought some gear for BLU and a Monster Signa for 230,000. If only I'd had Fraps running. :( I have about 1.2 million gil left, so this weekend I'm gonna do another splurge and get Alchemy to 70, and maybe get some more guild points... I'd like to have the Anima synthing capability to skill up to 75. At 2000-ish guild points / day, that should only take a week... provided it isn't too expensive.

We're planning to trio NIN tonight, but if not I'm gonna go camp my Bounding Boots. I really should go camp VE, but I'm not doing that alone. Not without Flee, I've learned my lesson.

Progress - February 1

I sold my Astral Ring. I got 600k. I used that to power level my goldsmithing... to 29... lame. :(

Sold all that crap, and used the 150k to get my Alchemy to LV51... in one day. -_- If I'd only done Alchemy first, I'd probably have been able to hit 70 or 80. LOL Live and learn, I guess.

We did some more trioing, and I did some soloing, got BST25 in a quadro (Me Genmo Etcetera and LS mate). We got DRG44... I'm close to 45, Brigandine ftw.

Currently at 58 Alchemy; spent more getting 51-58 then I did 0-51... stupid Hi Potions have a horrid skill up, apparently.

22BST and Ring!

I was soloing on BST, got to 22 in Buburimu (I 2houred a Tough Akbaba and roughed up a bunch of mandies and goblins, and even a couple of T Wights), when the LS chat brings up someone doing Wings of Fury.

He says he wants us to pass on the ring for him. I suggest we either do (a) what my static does, aka Split Everything™, or (b) Your Orb, Your Drop. They decide to do (b).

I gear up Dandruffmule (21BST/10WHM), grab a Cloudy Orb, and run out to Ghelsba. I afk at WoF BCNM spot (Ghelsba Outpost hut) for about 2 1/2 hours while Fro levels.

We do the first orb, Me Fro and Tula. No sweat. BST BST WHM ftw. :) Nothing of value.

We do my orb 2nd. After a cheesecake victory, I lock on to the Armory Crate, swivel around to face North (it's Darksday and I'm superstitious). Astral Ring. *_*;;;

Now I'm torn between saving it and using it (would really help my BLU), or just selling it to powerlevel a craft.

Soloed more with my BST this morning after my 8AM class, and got about halfway into 22. Korroloka is a lot more stressful than Buburimu, and I'm not sure the exp/hour is really all that great. I'll need to clock myself tomorrow morning after my exp ring wears off.

30 BLU

Due to a hectic work schedule, my posting has been worse than sporadic. :(

Got 30 BLU outside of Sea Serpent Grotto last night. I wish the spell points changed at x0 instead of x1. Oh well. I got about 1000 into my level before I had to log out.

I'm really liking BLU mage, and I have a full BLU sub for DRG until after full AF. It's been a lot of fun too, so I may just take it past 37. At the very least, 40. I'd like to give a BCNM a shot as BLU. Plus I figure people will be more receptive to BLU than DRG for CoP stuff.

Genmo and Etcetera are always busy with their 70 jobs (they both beat Maat, congrats), and we haven't dusted off DRG in a long time. -_-

I was hoping to level up BST with Genmo sometime, but I think I'm going to level it up on my own, so I can sell all my low level gear.

I really should get a more active linkshell; I joined this server to play with my IRL friends, but they already got their Assault / CoP statics going.

BLU

Wow, long time no post.

Got 22BLU last night, going to take a break and exp NIN to 21 so I can sell my 2nd set of Bone Gear.

Damn Samonuske. Took me for almost 200k.

No good deed and all that junk. No, not that. It wasn't a good deed, it was a STUPID deed. I didn't know the guy but figured I'd help him out. I was stupid.

Have all my useful BLU spells. Missing Blast Bomb, Cursed Sphere, and Claw Cyclone. I use all my BLU magic points on stat boosting (Battle Dance woot) or actual use (Bludgeon is pimp, Head Butt utility, Power Attack / Foot Kick for cheap spammage).

Still taking a break on DRG. Genmo and Etcetera are almost Lv70... if I can't get situated at work and find time to play with them more, I'm probably going to quit. It's no fun without friends, and it sucks to constantly be playing catch up. :(

Dunno if I'll do another MMO. It's so addicting. heh.

DRG and BLU

Got DRG close to 42 in Behemoth's Dominion. Garlaige was packed, which is a shame; the bats and beetles there are PERFECT. The banishing gate camp was so nice, we got Chain 6 and didn't rest our MP (thanks to juices) for about an hour.

We decided to take a break on DRG, only using it for BCNM purposes, after doing the DRG AF weapon quest.

We're going to focus on BST for the time being. I'm going to PL them to 20BST, then the trioing begins. I hope it's neater than I imagine... it seems like it will be harder to trio, at least until we get jug pets.

I got BLU to 6 while Genmo and Etcetera did a Besieged. They're going to start doing their Assaults, so I guess I need to start doing some quests so I can get Assault points too. That Assault gear is nice, I can't wait.

Still haven't learned a single BLU spell. :(

DRG and BCNM

Got 40DRG last week. Did 36-40 in one night, but it was a /long/ night. Heh.

Did a whole bunch of BCNMs. 3 Royal Jellies, about 13 Under Observations. Only wiped twice (on our first set, and then when kiter forgot his Powder Boots). No great drops for me yet. Etcetera got Utsusemi: Ni twice. I got Erase once.

Going to go exp again soon and try to get a Peacock Charm. I'm really looking forward to it.

Got 34DRG last night. Did Yuhtunga goblins and mandies until we levelled up to 33, then chocobo down to Yhoator and ran laps around the cave camp. We got chain 5 every lap, and got ~3000 xp / hour. It was awesome.

Can't wait for High Jump (35DRG).

Ran out to Altepa, first fight - Sickle Slash. -_-

Regroup in Rabao, I Teleport-Holla and we go to Rang[tab] Pass, near San d'Oria. We do Stirges at the zoneline to Beaucedine Glacier.

There's a tunnel of nothing but bats, about a dozen of them. We get a chain 7 on our first run. We clear the rest of the tunnel, rest up, and when we have a few repops we start killing again. They don't respawn fast enough. We don't go over chain 5 for the rest of the night. :(

After about 2000 exp, Floating Eyes start popping in our tunnels. I ding 31DRG, and we just run up and down the half of the tunnel the Floating Eye isn't blocking, to get ding for the other two, as well as buffer. We take on the Very Tough Eye...

We take him down, no worries, even his Stone II and Aeroga aren't causing too much trouble. Nothing we can't handle, anyway.

Then... Eyes on Me.

Genmo is wiped out, one shotted by a massive attack. Etcetera and I finish it off, then proceed to blood warp as well.

This camp was awesome, but not enough mobs. We had to wait on repops because we were killing so fast. Blech. Looking for alternatives. Chain 7 is our personal record, and once we hit 31, I noticed our Jumps and Double Thrusts closing in (and even once surpassing) the 200 damage mark.

Stayed in Korroloka 27-29. Decided to camp-hop and find the best ones, since the gilsellers returned and took over Korroloka.

It... blew...

We went to pretty much every camp except Attohwa Chasm.

Rolanberry, Delkfutt's, Batallia, Yuhtunga... kept dying so much that for almost an hour our TNLs didn't change significantly. We finally went to Batallia, said screw it, and did everything. EP Birds, EM Tigers, T Orcs... anything short of IT, and we fought it. Every few fights someone died, and I'd run back to town, switch to WHM, come back out, Raise, Warp, and return as DRG.

But finally, after a lame day of exping, we hit 30.

It was fun, I must say, but 29-30 was such a choke point. We were doing two levels a day this past week, and then today we barely scraped by with ONE. -_-

Definitely need to get better, less crowded camps. We were doing Mandragoras, whose sleepga really hurts Healing Breath-ing. >_>

On a plus note, I did solo a T Mandy. ^_^-b

Got 21 in Korroloka. It was crowded with gilsellers, so we decided to go to Valkurm and do Crabs (less severe TP moves). Hard to find mobs, but eventually we headed towards Valkurm Emperor's pop area, and did Crabs and Damselflies.

We decided to go up to Qufim and try stuff there, but it was mostly VT-IT. Not worth the hassle, and we didn't even get Chain 2.

We ended up going back to Korroloka (saw the ??? twice, and Morion Worm himself once). We got 22, but then ran across the bridge to go to the worm room, getting aggro from a Gigas in the process.

Got DRG to 20 with my friends in a DRG/WHM x 3 setup. We got Healing Breath II last night, it was awesome. Switching camps from Korroloka (overcrowded, and Bat TP moves blow -_-) to Valkurm (Crabs).

Guess we'll do Valkurm to 22-23, then go do Qufim Crabs to 25ish.

Got Shampoo's BST to 20. Got buffer, then grabbed my orbs and headed to Colocolo.

1st run -- Absolute joke. Only had 1 mischarm. Beat it in 9 minutes. (Mismacroed on the last bat, and charmed it rather than WS'd it... -_-)

Got Ganko, Platoon Spear, Invisible, and Bat Fang. -_- junk.

2nd run -- Absolute massacre. Only had 1 charm. And that was after Shampoo died, and I had all three bats on me. I had less than 20 hp when the charm occurred. I was screwed.

No drops, cause I died.

2/1/0 on Wings of Fury.

Next time, I'm doing two runs, and blowing one 2hour / run. Or, bring a friend to cure me. >_>

Carpenter's Landing

Carpenter's Landing was a BST playground. Tons of DC-EM Bees and Beetles to use on the Funguar.

Once I dinged 17BST 17WHM, some of the Funguar turned EM as well. After clearing house, some of them even dipped to DC. I kept pets so that Mule's WHM could keep up (since I couldn't use her exp ring).

My Funguar came uncharmed at the worst times. Usually when Mule was out of MP, or after my opponent criticalled me. There are high intensity moments where it becomes complicated to do two characters at once. With MNK WHM it was never an issue, MNK was auto attack, and my full focus was on my WHM.

Well, got 16BST and a buffer on Mule, put her in the Bone gear, and decided to go back to town and duo BST.

I tried to find a good place to solo BST with Shampoo (was kinda tired and didn't feel like duoing), and finally settled on Ghelsba. Got about 1500 exp off EPs (for like 15-20 exp apiece, I couldn't find a good camping spot that was safe enough), then went back to town. I'll just duo tonight.

Geared up Mule's 15WHM and Shampoo's 15BST, I'll do Carpenter's Landing tonight. The Beetles, Funguar, and Orcs are Tough, so I should be fine.

Mule was still in La Theine Plateau. Soloed for awhile, got to 13.

Frotaut logged on, I invited him out to duo. We're both BSTs, and only three levels apart. He's very very close tnl, so I log out Mule and just PL him until he hits 11. Two laps through the bat cave suffice.

We party up on Funguars, and I'm using pet Bees and Bats. It kills my exp enough that he levels up one fight before I hit 14. My signet wore off about halfway through leveling, but that's ok.

After he leaves, I solo until 6:00AM to get my 15th level and buffer, then blood warp home.

This afternoon, I logged on and finished my Light Axe quest, and sold some crystals. Have about 200k on Mule, 175k on Shampoo. I like BST. I am going to go back out to Funguars tonight and get Mule to Lv20, then take out Shampoo's BST and get /him/ to 20.

Since Mule can't PL Shampoo, I'll probably take him out as 15BST/7WHM and go to Ghelsba. I love that place.

And I found out today that Mule's RSE day is Friday (my day off) starting at 11:30-ish PM, and is in Ordelle's. Perfect timing. Guess I'll go activate her quest and get her started on RSE.

So last night, I notice a guy in the LS is the same level as me.

"We should duo," I say. Another guy in the LS thinks he has a job that level.

It kinda snowballs from there, until we have a 5 man party. I run out to Windurst, change jobs, and meet them in Giddeus. We have a slow start (Nuraku kept dying; Yagudo Sweep attacks would kill him before weakness wore).

Nuraku (RNG) pulls. Frotaut (BST) and Mule (BST) fight. We don't charm much, after the initial run in. Kovalt (DRG) and Tulangrei (PUP) brought their little helpers for a non-exp-penalty help.

RNG BST BST DRG PUP and Shampoo PL'd as 36WHM.

I got from 8BST to 10BST, which was awesome. Everyone levelled at least once, and after two hours we broke party, getting Nuraku his last 50 exp. I Teleport-Holla after we lot out all the seals and crystals.

I logged out at the crag so I could PL Mule's BST to 15 tonight, hopefully. I'll give duoing BST another try. Mule's WHM is high enough to go to 30BST before we have to worry about SJ.

[edit]Oh yeah. Beestinger is apparently worth 30k now, not 10k... whoops. And, also, AWESOME. :) My THF uses H2H anyway, I probably won't take it very far. I like /WAR on MNK, THF is just for TH-whoring.

Got THF5 to THF7 last night, while doing laundry. I had the hill all to myself for about 40 minutes. Then a 15THF shows up.

THEN A 72 SAM!!!! I am freaking out, and just killing all the non-wasps. I get to the peak, and the SAM clears house. Dejected, I go back downstairs to find a meager sampling of leftovers.

I emote on Shampoo a /sigh at the SAM, while my THF finishes off her Maneating Hornet... when I see STINGING SOPHIE!!!

I hit my /ra macro on my THF, and switch over to Shampoo's controller and try to navigate - manually, through menus - to Dia so I can get claim. The SAM runs up to Sophie, his GKT drawn, and it goes purple... DAMN IT.

I look back to Mule. It's RED! And so is her HP. >_>

I hit the /ma Cure Dandruffmule macro, and then invite her to party. I Banish II it twice, and melee it the rest of the way.

I tell the SAM that I got the drop... he's already back in Port Bastok. What the hell is a 72 SAM doing farming bees for like 10 minutes, then leaving the instant I got claim on the NM? That knife is like 10k. If a 72 char can't get 10k quicker than camping an NM... that's just effing sad.

I logged out, got my laundry, and went to bed.

Well, my friends came down to Ordelle's to help me out. First kill when she got there dropped the key. Rawk. He shows up while I'm unlocking the chest.

I Warp to Jeuno, and then they both "><" because a 2nd key dropped. I run to the Junk Shop.

I got my gloves (my most desired piece atm), then immediately Tele back out (I macroed my Tele and Warp, thankfully). I chocobo out to Ordelle's, and right as I zone in, cast lots on the key.

It immediately drops into my inventory. I barely made it. Awesome.

I run down the right hand hallway (down to where the PLD flag quest part 2 is), when he says he's found the chest. Crap. I have to backtrack half the cave to get there. Another key drops en route...

I race to the spot (good thing I RSE hunted here on my previous character, so I know it pretty well), and get to the chest, about 30 seconds before the treasure pool auto lots. They head on out to Altepa while I warp back to Jeuno. I get the body piece, and then tele back.

I duo for awhile, but don't get any key drops... I get aggro, die, and delevel. DAMN IT.

I quit. I got three pieces of RSE in like two hours, though. I bought my RSE boots off the AH for like 20k, so I'm not too worried about questing them. Unless they go up in price. 20k isn't worth the hassle it would take to go get them.

Now I gotta go do Mule's RSE... blech.

Tomorrow night my RSE is in Ordelle's / Gusgen. But, considering the time frame, I imagine I'll either get neither (9:00 PM is during my work time), or just a piece or two (pre-farm a key and take a late lunch to hunt down the chest).

Ordelle's will be easy, it's for M Elvaan so I can go as WHM and slink about. But since I'll only have one machine, I can't really farm up a second key... I really should just level THF so I can pick my own chests, and maybe go high level THF and do my own AF coffers. That would be nice.

Hmm... yet another job to level. -_-; I loved THF though, I really wanna take it higher.

Did Gobbiebag with Shampoo. Went to check on my NPC, and then an LS mate called me down to Garlaige to party. But only had one slot, so I logged out of Mule and went.

After a brief break, decided it was too early for bed. Gonna run down to Windurst and level up my BST duo in Sarutabaruta to farm up Cornettes for some Windurst fame. I didn't have enough Bastok fame for Teleport-Dem either. :(

Gonna get more corn this weekend and finish up my teleport scrolls, then push my BST onto 20, at the very least (Wings of Fury here I come).

I also have to work on my RSE very soon. Not this week though, I'm in Gusgen in 6 hours, then Shakrami. I need at least one RSE to be in Ordelle's or I won't do it. >_> I might just level THF to 30 on both of them and pick all my RSE.

Got 18BLM (about halfway to 19). Party kept breaking up and recruiting new people. I think we had 14 people overall, jumping in and out.

Got Mule to bring me some scrolls (Shock, Blizzard, Rasp). Although I have a full sub for WHM... I'm gonna keep levelling to 20. It really sucks not being able to OP in and out of places.

Even though I unlocked my NPCs, I'm not going to summon them just yet. I'm going to "Let's chat." with them every day to raise my affinity with them. The first time I summon them (probably 30DRG) I will probably be able to keep them out a long time. I hope, anyway.

Also, did Gobbiebag I with Mule. 35 slots ftw.

Defeated the dragon neatly. Beat him before my Hundred Fists wore off. Having to re-engage sucked, and the NPCs popped in right as I was Cure III-ing Mule. So the cutscene interrupted my casting, and the Cure I tossed after the CS interrupted her re-engaging... so I wasted about 10 seconds.

Got my cutscenes. Mahoyaya is adorable. :) Wish I'd made Liabelle a Mithra instead of an Elvaan; I had an Elvaan NPC on my old character, also named Liabelle. I wanted to relive my old glory days, I guess. But Mithra do have playful dialogue. Elvaan are serious. I won't get a Hume or a Galka NPC, so I'll never know how they talk. Heh.

Tonight, I'm going to go PL Mule's DRG to 14 (she's already 10 so it'll be easy), then duo with BLM DRG to 18. Or maybe just party with BLM/WHM and get myself to 18 (or just go on to 20 so I'll be done with Valkurm). I've got to get Warp, now that I'm in spitting range of Teleports.

Traded 120 Millioncorn on each character. Activated Healing the Land, set my HP to NSandoria, Outpost Warped to Valkurm, and ran down to Gusgen.

Wights are Tough down here, this would be a great place to duo. Later. I'm here on a mission. (Well, technically a quest. Bah dum bum. <_<)

My Sneak lasts from start all the way to the hole. Awesome. I Invisible us both, and before I'm done casting it on Shampoo, it's already worn off on Mule. Oh well. I refresh Invisible on both of us, and fall down.

Mule gets stuck behind a rock as I run Shampoo to the ??? for the quest. Her Invisible drops before I place the seal. I grab her controller and run her to the ???, and then Instant Warp Scroll both of them, just as a bomb nears. Close shave.

I return, get both scrolls, then Outpost to Buburimu (Shampoo doesn't have the Mea crystal, a fact I found out last night while on my way to Al Zahbi -_-). I get her Mea crystal, then chocobo up to Jueno, flags up and LFP. I don't have enough Windurst fame for Teleport-Mea, so I'll wait. I get to Jueno, and LFP for an hour. Then I log.

Then I remember I wanted to fight the Signal Pearl Dragon in Ghelsba. I'm logging back on. Hope I win.

{Al Zahbi} {Found it!}

"Last night" (being 1:00-4:00 AM this morning) I got to 33WHM / 32MNK with Shampoo and Mule (respectively). I got a Purple Belt (FINALLY), and am temporarily done with Yhoator.

This morning (being 1:00 PM this afternoon), I rode the ferry to Al Zahbi, and spent a half hour accumulating and sending Millioncorn to Mule using Shampoo.

I'm going to fame up and go out to quest my Teleport scrolls (learn them on Shampoo, sell them with Mule). Then I'm going to make that final push to 37WHM / 37MNK. Then I will begin the Advanced Job journey.

I will probably do Sh:DRG/Mu:WHM for awhile, then do Sh:RDM/Mu:DRG for awhile, and when both DRG are equal, I will duo DRG/WHM with NPCs. I will also work on cooking; I will not play DRG/WHM without juices. I will at least get my DRG to 40 so I can start burning up my Beastman Seals. DRG are gods of the 40-cap BCNMs. I am also interested in duoing BLM40s, but that will have to wait.

(Actually, now that I think about it, I might do Sh:BLM/Mu:RNG for awhile; I need to get Shampoo's BLM to 17 before I get WHM to 37, so I can tele-whore during slow days for gil.)

I am also thinking of doing BRD/WHM with Shampoo and COR/RNG with Mule. Then duo-party with them. I will have to refine my dual-boxing skills for such an intensive support pair. But BRD/COR parties rock so hard, I'm willing to try.

Minor Accomplishments

Got the initial work done on Magicite. I'll just have to slink through the beastman strongholds and view the cutscenes, and I'll get my Airship Pass.

Did the Tenshodo Invite quest. Sold them.

Did Drain and Warp with both chars. Sold one of each, used the others on Shampoo's BLM.

Collected all six subjob items and got my {Boarding pass} for Aht Urghan. I'll probably go unlock BLU/COR sometime this week.

My main goal has shifted to getting 36~37 WHM this week. After I get Teleports and can be self-sufficient travel-wise, I can switch focus to another endeavor.

[edit]While in Jeuno, I passed a guy and checked him. I saw he had the Tarut cards, so I went and started the quest. I got the Fool and the Hermit, traded with myself, then traded him one. It was the last one he needed, so he offered me his spare. I got two Kings. Woot.

Now I need Death... and the other one I always forget. >_>

I did all my pre-mission stuff for Rank 4, and when my friends got to my place, we did the Porphyrion fight. Rank 4 ftw. Time to get started on Magicite. I can pretty much solo that if I'm careful enough.

My friends helped me do the Namorodo fight for my NPC fellow. One of them is a Tarutaru(F) that is the same model as Shantotto (my fave NPC ^.^), and the other is an Elvaan(F) that looks like Mule but with black hair instead of white.

Other than that, not much. Got 31WHM. I'll probably get legitimate parties this week and try to get 37 so I can take a break. I gotta start questing my Teleports.

I quested Warp on Shampoo. I quested Drain on Mule, and need to run her to Bastok to get it as well. Even though I want to do 40BLM with the both of them for the purposes of Manaburning Under Observation, I think I'll just sell Mule's scrolls. They'll be 40 for the BCNM and I can just Warp II her out with Shampoo.

I dunno for sure, just yet.

Didn't play last night. Got on this morning, just to check my delivery boxes.

Down there I said 1/3 on NM, but actually... Truffle killed me once, so I had no chance to get a drop, so that didn't count. I was 1/2 on kills, but 1/3 overall.

I killed Bigmouthed Billy, but only after he killed me. So, 1/3 on kills, but 1/5 out of all attempts.

I'll just go by (success)/(attempts), as dying to an NM then having time to get back to said NM to re-engage is a feat in itself.

Step 2: Windurst (... and <^> drop rates)

Well, I went to Windurst for Part 2, and farmed up a key. Just decided to try my hand at 2-3 fight.

I nailed it. I ran in and started fighting, and popped Hundred Fists. I took out Seeker, but got Sleepga'd at the end. WHM was slept for most of the dragon fight. I popped Benediction when I awoke, and finished with a smile. I was psyched.

Then I went on to get a 4-man JP party after turning in my keys, and duo'd with them to 29. I duo'd Yuhtunga mandies, then went back to Qufim, and got 30 for my WHM. Still close to 30 on MNK, but haven't exped.

I took out my BLM today as Dandruffshampoo (need a BLM sub if I get WHM to 37), and while soloing in East Ronfaure, for the first time ever, I saw Bigmouthed Billy (I've seen this game played, and have played it off and on, since it was released in NA). I've never seen him, and have camped him several times.

I got him to 75% as BLM with low MP. I ran out of range, and he burrowed away. I rested... killed orc aggro... rerested... killed goblin aggro... rererested... and then went out and found him again. Meleeing and nuking, got him to 50% as 9BLM.

Died.

HPed to San d'Oria, and ran back out as 30WHM/15RDM. Killed him easily.

No drop.

NOT. A. SINGLE. ORE.

... I hate the drop rates on this game. They are stupid and unfair and there's reason for it to be that lame.

Step 1: Bastok

Finished up the Bastokan portion of 2-3, and spent awhile farming up my Kazham keys.

IRL, my cat knocked over some stuff in my bedroom, and while I went to check on her, I got links and died... /sigh

I had to get a tele and chocobo back, but I got both my keys after like two hours.

I logged out at the Bastok chocobo stables.

Prep Work

I got 25MNK last night, plus buffer. I was soloing Stag Beetles in Jugner at the NPercival camp, with my 26WHM there to support. Panzer popped, and as I was resting MP, another beetle popped. I took care of the pop, but then a goblin aggroed.

I cleared the area, and then took out Percival. It was a pretty paced battle; every time I hit 100% TP and Combo'd, he was at a 25% increment. My initial Combo was 300% from killing all the easy mobs, then my 2nd Combo was at 75% hp. The third Combo hit him at 50%, and the fourth was at 25%. Then he did a defensive buff and I had to Combo him twice more to take him out.

Beetle jaw. :( (1/3 on NMs)

I ran back to San d'Oria, and talked to the Missions guy. I had to do Rescue Mission (2-1) to unlock the upper quests, and so I had to run back to La Theine and rescue the idiot. I go back to town and complete it, then check the Missions guy again.

Dandruffshampoo has 100% Rank 2 fame, so he got Journey Abroad and I took him to see Halver in Chateau d'Oreguille (sp?). [edit: it is d'Oraguille... I was close.] Dandruffmule however, only had 50% fame, so I ran her out to do Save the Children again... not enough. I just bought two stacks of Earth Crystals, turned them in to the R.K. for fame, and activated her Journey Abroad.

They are currently logged out in Chateau and ready to head to Bastok.

Well, I finished the chocobo raising quest, and started raising my little bundles of time sink...

I trioed with IRL friends, and got 25 WHM. Rawk.

Then I partied with Mule and got to 24MNK. I'm "PLing" myself to 25MNK, then duoing. The reason I'm "PLing" my MNK is that Qufim Lake Worms are Tough, but I can solo them as MNK. With a Cure III every fight, I can rest up my MP and get Chain 4 for 234 exp (woot). I'll be 25 in no time.

Then Kazham keys. Then SJ items (Al Zahbi access). Then next weekend we're going to do the 2-3 Dragon fight and start the path to Rank 5.

Once over the level 20 hump (getting to Jeuno, getting a chicken license), the game starts to pick up. Duoing is A LOT easier with Regen and Cure III. Plus 20-25 is where the good gear starts coming in.

Tonight I will take out WHM/RDM+MNK/WAR and just start the long hard road to 37.

I also need to buy a Purple Belt as well as some +MP gear. Maybe with MNK tanking so long I'll actually manage to cap Guard skill.

Restarting on another server has really driven home the nature of FFXI... how there isn't an item you need that can easily be gotten when you need it (I speak here of Purple Belt specifically, but also applies almost universally). Can a Lv7 THF take out Leaping Lizzy? Nope. Jaggedy Eared Jack? Nope.

You need a group of friends or a linkshell to accomplish these things, and what first time player has five people that will help him fight these NMs... and then pass on the multi-million gil item? (Well, Bounding Boots are Rare/Ex, but you get my point.)

Luckily, having farmed rams myself in another incarnation, I know the Purple Belt won't be very hard to attain. Ram farmers tend to shout out "Do you need the horn?" and invite the needy MNKs to lot on the desired item.

AND COME ON!!! What first time level 20 guy would know where to find Gausebit Greens, much less get to and kill the flies that drop it? AND DO IT FOUR TIMES!!!

... bleh. I'm having second thoughts about the duration of my journey here.

Psycoboy (50WHM/25BLM Hume M) met me in Valkurm, and for four days (about 3.5 IRL hours) we hunted crabs, damselflies, and ghouls.

Finally, in the wee dark hours of a Watersday night, the quest was completed.

Now that I'm in spitting range of the Subjob quest, I'll consider myself/myselves legitimate character(s).

We've been sticking to my old favorite: doing East Ronfaure until Lv5~Lv7, then Ghelsba Outpost Funguars until 13, then Vatgit's Peak or Fort Ghelsba until 15, then down to Yughott Grotto entrance until 18.

The original plan was WAR+RDM to 18, get SJ, then MNK/WAR+WHM/RDM to 30, and unlock BRD+NIN and do NIN/WAR+BRD/WHM for awhile... but I think I'm just gonna do dual DRG. I've always loved DRG... plus I don't have to buy shihei. <_<
